MODALITIES OFFERED

I offer Psychotherapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Programming). For more information about this modality, which is helpful in the treatment of trauma, chronic pain and phobias, see EMDR under treatments.
For those who prefer to work in a more focussed, goal orientated way, I offer Life Coaching.
My clients can expect an initial assessment session, at which I will find out more background and together my clients and I work out a treatment plan which suits their needs, time constraints and budget.
I also offer email consultations.

PERSONAL

I have been working as a psychologist since 1990 and I have worked at the Green House since 1995. I currently see clients at the Green House and also in St James. Some of my clients enjoy a walk by the sea after their therapy session! I believe that psychotherapy can be helpful to everyone who is interested in personal growth and who takes their emotional/ spiritual/ physical well-being seriously. I often see clients who have never been in therapy before, and I love it when clients have a positive experience of therapy and then come back for more psychotherapy – sometimes years later when they are facing different challenges or at a different stage in their lives. I enjoy seeing clients who are also working with other modalities in their quest for health. We still have much to learn about the body/ mind connection, and I am also interested in working with clients who are embracing the challenge of chronic illness, chronic pain, who are wanting to heal from trauma related to medical procedures, or who need to come to terms with a diagnosis which has implications for their lives.

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Cape Town. The course has a psychodynamic focus and included practical training experience in working with adults, adolescents and adults, and an internship at Valkenberg Hospital and at Grootte Schuur Hospital.

I have also studied EMDR 1, Intermediate and EMDR 11. I was trained by Alexandra Richman, who specialises in EMDR training in London. The courses are recognised by the EMDR International Association and EMDR Europe.
