Saliva tests

Saliva testing is a good way to measure hormones and cortisol, as one is measuring the free, unbound form of the substances, which are active in the body. The bound forms are attached to proteins, rendering them inactive. Serum measurements generally measure the total of the unbound and the free portions, which means one has to calculate the free, active portion, which leads to inaccuracies.
